Biography

Since 2000 Michael has been an academic at Western Sydney University. In 2004 Michael became head of programme Bachelor of Policing and remained there until 2014. From 2014 until 2018 Michael was Professor and Manager International Affairs at the Western Sydney College where he was head of programme Maldives Police College ISLES Bachelor Policing Science and he Coordinated and Delivering Bach Police Studies. In 2018 Michael returned to The Western Sydney Uni School of Social Science Policing /Criminology programme as Senior Lecturer. He is the author of The Police: Means, Ends and the Rule of Law, which is Marxist-Gramscian challenge of class, agency, corruption and reform in ?progressive? analyses of policing.

Between 1978 and 1996 Michael was a detective in the New South Wales Police. During this time Michael worked as a detective at the Bureau of Crime Intelligence, Organised Crime Squad, Major Crime Squad and the NSW State Crime Commission. Michael has also worked in partnership with the Brigade de repression du Proxenetisme and the Brigade du protection des Mineurs in Paris.
