Biography

I have graduated from Cairo University, with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science. I have spent almost 10 years in the US (University of Louisiana, University of Arizona, and Rutgers University) conducting computational and neuropsychological studies of schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease (during my PhD and postdoctoral work). Starting from 2010, I have also started collaborative projects on depression and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In 2012, I have moved to UWS, and I am glad to teach and conduct research in the field of cognitive and clinical neuropsychology.

My research interests lie at the intersection of Computational Modeling, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Clinical Neuropsychology. Currently, I am interested in understanding learning and cognitive function in various psychiatric and neurological disorders.

I plan to study cognitive function in various patient groups using both computational modeling and behavioral methods. One of my research goals is to understand how changes in cognitive function (such as working memory, learning, memory, attention, and language) relate to psychometric measures (such as personality, intelligence, and quality of life) in patients with brain disorders.
