Biography

Danielle Tracey is a Professor with expertise in Educational and Developmental Psychology; Disability Studies; and Evaluation at Western Sydney University, Australia. She is a member of the Centre for Educational Research and the Translational Health Research Institute.

Her career objective is to understand and advance the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of vulnerable people and communities, especially those with developmental disabilities such as intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Danielle Tracey is an accomplished researcher having secured over $5.5 million in national and international research grants, collaborating with scholars in Papua New Guinea, Canada, USA, Germany, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong. She is widely authored in high-impact journals and is the co-editor of two international volumes on inclusive education.

She is a mixed-method researcher conducting rigorous program evaluations and longitudinal designs to identify developmental trends, policies and practices that optimise wellbeing and development. Most notably, she works in partnership, and through co-design, with industry and communities to ensure her research has real-world application and meaning. Since 2017 she has partnered to improve the pre-service and in-service teacher training in Papua New Guinea to achieve positive outcomes for teachers and students.

Her research and teaching is strengthened by her experience as an Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Service Manager within the community sector for 15 years prior to entering academia.

Finally, she has served as the University-wide Research Theme Champion for ‘Education and Work’ where she applied her research and leadership expertise to foster high quality interdisciplinary research across the University within this substantive area.
