Biography

Rosemary Qummouh has been with the School of Social Sciences and Psychology since 2011 teaching in various units across the BSW and BCSD programs. Rosemary has 19 years clinical experience working in community based programs with newly arrived refugee / humanitarian entrants and asylum seekers. Rosemary’s background is in Social Work, Sociology and Counselling, specialising in trauma with a focus on post traumatic stress disorders and mental health social work practices. Rosemary is an accredited mental health social worker with AASW. Her research interests concern trauma and mental health issues in relationship to refugees and asylum seekers. Rosemary has worked closely with Mission Australia focusing on newly arrived migrants with refugee status and with Transcultural Mental Health Centre. Rosemary has a passion and interest in bringing her field experiences to the teaching of social work practices across both social work and BCSD programs at UWS.
