Biography

Penelope Rossiter is a Senior Lecturer in Cultural and Social Analysis in the School of Humanities and Communications Arts. She teaches, and is available to supervise students, in the broad areas of gender studies and cultural studies with a particular interest in the intersections of those with some contemporary work in social and cultural geography. Current research projects include work on class, representation and comedy; the psychotopographies of class; waterscapes of emotion; and, swimming and the more-than-human. Prior to taking up an academic position, and completing a PhD in 2005, Penelope worked as a teacher, a social policy research officer, and in the community sector as a support worker in a Women's Refuge.
