Biography

Doctor Michele Wiese is Adjunct Fellow in the School of Psychology, Western Sydney University Australia. Michele is a psychologist and educator who has worked in the disability sector for over 30 years.  Her work has always aimed to achieve a marriage between research and practice.  Michele has been a long-standing advocate in the disability field and her experience has spanned accommodation, supported employment, education, and aged-care services, and has included clinical roles, staff training and management, and process and outcome evaluation.  She has worked together with people with intellectual, physical, sensory and psychiatric disability, as well as families, educators, and allied health professionals. Michele’s current disability research focus includes end-of-life care, as well as complex support needs in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Michele maintains strong professional connections with fellow universities, government and not-for-profit agencies in the disability sector.  She is Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney's Centre for Disability Research and Policy, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Fellow of the Australasian Society of Intellectual Disability. Michele is consulting editor to two international peer-reviewed journals.
