Since 2004, Mary has been involved with several research projects with the Cooperative Research Centre for Construction Innovation. The projects involved various aspects of the diffusion of construction innovations as well as waste minimisation in construction. In 2011 she completed her PhD thesis which looks into "Technical innovation in small and medium construction enterprises". She is now highly involved with the Centre for Smart Modern Construction at WSU and is interested in improving industry performance and reliability.
