Biography

Brahm is an Associate Profesor in Community Engaged Learning, School of Medicine, Western Sydney University. He has a medical degree and general practice training from Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia, and Master of Public Health and PhD in Community Medicine from the University of New South Wales, Australia, focusing on healthcare-associated infection prevention and control and cross-cultural knowledge translation. Brahm has traversed all sectors of Medicine from laboratory benches to primary care as a GP, to infection prevention in clinics and hospitals, and grass-root public health in the community. He is a champion of diversity, intersectionality, inclusion, and equity in health and medical education. 

Brahm has been an academic since 1996, teaching medical microbiology, infection control, research methods, evidence-based medicine and social determinants of health to medical, nursing, public health and pharmacy students. His teaching portfolio spans the undergraduate, Honours, Master’s and PhD levels in Indonesia and Australia. Joining Western Sydney University in 2013, Brahm now serves as the School of Medicine's Associate Dean for Engagement and oversees the School's community engagement partnerships and initiatives. He is also the Senior Advisor of Medicine in Context, the School’s flagship community engaged learning program.
