Thesis Title

The significance of the citizenship regarding full entitlement of fundamental rights in a sovereign state-a case study of the Rohingya.

The purpose of this thesis is to discover the issues produced via the present stateless condition of Rohingya refugees together with denied rights of residency, handled as hostile intruders, even pressured into unsafe camp. Any financial aid or just fulfilling the basic necessities of the Rohingya people is not a viable solution. It is high time to spread awareness about the problem. The plight of stateless individuals has to be closely evaluated so as to seek out a logical solution. The study, if successful, will endeavour to contribute towards a far better understanding of inhumane conditions stateless individuals have to experience on the day after day and why it’s significant to grant national citizenship rights for the protection of human rights more generally.

Achieving Sustainability through Contract Governance in GVCs: Challenges and A Way Forward

My research interest is about the interaction between private and public law making. Currently, I am looking into the regulatory impact of global value chains on national law making and how states respond to those challenges posed by the ever-evolving phenomenon of global production system, particularly in the context of global pandemic of coronavirus.

Mr Nour Mohammad currently a PhD research fellow at the Western Sydney University in the school of law under the supervision of Professor Michael Head and Jason Donnelly. His PhD thesis explores the Rohingya refugee-related environmental impacts in Bangladesh through legal and policy analysis. He specializes in international human rights, refugee law, with a focus on the Rohingya Catastrophe, state responsibility and human rights obligations. He has an extensive research publication in the reputed journal in home and abroad and also a member of a various national and international organization such as Emerald Literati Network Member in the UK, Indian Society of International, New Delhi, India and a senior member of Asia–Pacific Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering Society (APCBEES) Hong Kong.

Mr Nour holds a Master of Laws in Human Rights from the University of Hong Kong; a Bachelor of Law and Master of Laws degree from the University of Chittagong. He was admitted as a lawyer in Chittagong District Bar, Bangladesh in 2002. He has been teaching law at the Premier University, Chittagong, Bangladesh since 2009

SULTANA, Abida

The Link between the Environment and WTO Trade Rules from the Perspective of Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The focus of Abida’s PhD is to analyse the effect WTO Phytosanitary Agreements to the economy of developing countries. Abida is looking into fisheries and aquaculture sector of Bangladesh as a case study to further analyse the impacts of international food safety, health and environmental standards on the ability of lower income countries to gain and maintain access to world markets especially in industrialised countries. She is also the elected student representative on the School’s Research and Higher Degree Committee.

Abida holds a Master’s degree in Business Law (MBL) from the University of Sydney. She has also completed her LLB (Honours) and LLM from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh with First Class. She is one of the co-authors of the book “Combating the Khasi Uprooting: Humanity Cries”.

Abida has interests in diverse areas of international law, including International Trade and Environment, International Business Law, Law and Economic Development, Corporate law and Human Rights.
