About our conference venue

The venue will be Parramatta South Campus, Western Sydney University. Western Sydney University is a leading research and teaching institution in Australia. It is a multi-campus institution embedded in Greater Western Sydney, with a remit to address the higher education, research and engagement needs of the region.

Here is some useful information as to how to get to the conference venue:

The Parramatta South Campus is situated in the suburb of Rydalmere in the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). The easiest way to travel to and from the Parramatta South Campus is using public transport. Find out more about your travel option below.

Public transport - use the interactive travel planner on this page or visit Transport NSW (opens in a new window)for up-to-date travel information. You typically arrive at Parramatta train station, and then either utilise our campus shuttle bus  from Parramatta City Campus to Parramatta South Campus, or use Public Buses with the numbers M52, 521, 525 or 524, which stop at Victoria Road outside Parramatta South Campus.

It is also possible to change train lines and take a train along the Carlingford line to Rydalmere Station (the transfer station to the Carlingford line is Clyde), and then walk 10 mins to Parramatta South Campus. Kindly check the Tranport NSW for train timeline and note that trains on that line are less frequents (every 30 mins).

A handy mobile phone app for Sydney’s public transport (including trains and buses) is TripView (opens in a new window). A lite version can be downloaded for free through the AppStore (opens in a new window).

Shuttle Bus - for campus shuttle info visit the Shuttle bus webpage (opens in a new window). Western Sydney University’s shuttle bus stop is located right outside the Parramatta City Campus at 169 Macquarie Street. From the station, this stop is a 3-4 minute walk via the Eastern Concourse access, along Smith and Station Streets and left onto Macquarie Street. Be aware that some shuttle buses travel to both Parramatta North and Parramatta South Campuses. Make sure to alight at Parramatta South Campus.

Bike or Walk  - there is a cycling and walking path running along the Parramatta River on the campus side. On-campus bike parking is available. Check the cycling at Western Sydney University page (opens in a new window) for locations.

Drive or carpool (opens in a new window) - Entrance to the campus is via Victoria Road. To park on Parramatta campus (South) you will require a blue, red or disabled parking permit. For fees please see the parking webpage (opens in a new window).

How to Get to Parramatta

Parramatta is a prominent suburb in Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, 23 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD on the banks of the Parramatta River. Parramatta is the administrative seat of the City of Parramatta and is often regarded as the second CBD of the Sydney metropolitan area. By taxi from Sydney Airport, the travel time takes approx. 45 minutes (for 28 kms). By train from Sydney Airport to Parramatta Station, it takes approx. 60 minutes, with a transfer at Central station.

Train - Parramatta railway station

Parramatta railway station is a major transport interchange on the Sydney rail network. It is served by Sydney Trains' Cumberland Line, Inner West & Leppington Line and North Shore, Northern & Western Line. NSW TrainLink operate intercity services on the Blue Mountains Line as well as services to rural New South Wales.

Bus

Parramatta is also serviced by a major bus interchange located on the south eastern side of the railway station. The interchange is served by buses utilising the North West T-Way to Rouse Hill and the Liverpool-Parramatta T-way to Liverpool. Parramatta is also serviced by five high-frequency Metrobus services:

M52 – Parramatta to City via Victoria Road (State Transit)

M54 – Parramatta to Macquarie Park via Carlingford and Epping (State Transit)

M60 – Parramatta to Hornsby via Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill, Cherrybrook, Pennant Hills, Thornleigh and Normanhurst (Hillsbus)

M91 – Parramatta to Hurstville via Granville, Bankstown and Peakhurst (Transdev NSW)

M92 – Parramatta to Sutherland via Lidcombe, Bankstown and Padstow (Transdev NSW)

A free bus Route 900 is operated by Transdev NSW in conjunction with the state government. Route 900 circles Parramatta CBD. A free bus also links Parramatta Stadium to Parramatta railway station during major sporting events.

Ferry - Charles St Ferry Wharf, Parramatta

The Parramatta ferry wharf is at the Charles Street Weir, which divides the tidal saltwater from the freshwater of the upper river, on the eastern boundary of the Central Business District. The wharf is the westernmost destination of Sydney Ferries' Parramatta River ferry services.

Road

Parramatta Road has always been an important thoroughfare for Sydney from its earliest days. From Parramatta, the major western road for the state is the Great Western Highway. The M4 Western Motorway, running parallel to the Great Western Highway has taken much of the traffic away from these roads, with entrance and exit ramps close to Parramatta.

James Ruse Drive serves as a partial ring-road circling around the eastern part of Parramatta to join with the Cumberland Highway to the north west of the city.

The main north-south route through Parramatta is Church Street. To the north, it becomes Windsor Road, and to the south, it becomes Woodville Road.
