A History of Nursing at Hawkesbury
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is pleased to offer a limited printed edition of the History of Nursing at Hawkesbury for a small donation of $15.00. All purchase funds will be donated to the School of Nursing and Midwifery Student Prize fund which supports students who demonstrate outstanding academic or clinical performance. Orders will be processed within approximately 14 business days (subject to Australia Post) and posted to the mailing address provided.

A new generation of midwives
Five years in the making, the Bachelor of Midwifery commenced this autumn session, aiming to educate professional midwives to serve the Greater Western Sydney community.
A new career is born
Working as a registered nurse specialising in oncology, paediatrics and neo-natal intensive care motivated Rachael Hyde to pursue a career in midwifery -a move she describes as a shift towards more positive healthcare.

UWS nursing graduate Amina Elshafei first came to public attention as a contestant on Australia's most popular TV cooking show, MasterChef. However, there is a lot more to her story.Image UWS Student Amina Elshafei, Master of Child and Family Health 2012 Inspired by her Korean and Egyptian heritage, and her parents' passion for food, Amina Elshafei lists cooking as one of the great loves of her life. "I think having a great combination of cultures in the family really opened my eyes to learning more about the food," she says. "Now, as an adult and living away from home, I've got a much deeper appreciation for home cooked food. You miss it. I've just been overseas, and I can't wait to have something Mum or Dad has cooked."
