Meet Nirav Patel
Nirav is a graduate of the Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) course. Nirav studied at Hawkesbury campus.
While studying, Nirav was working as a casual AIN (Assistant in Nursing) and on graduation attained full time work as a registered Nurse.
We asked Nirav to share with us what student life is like and what words of wisdom he would share with future Western students:
Nursing is very intense. In the current work environment, I have experienced first-hand that employers respect Western Sydney University graduates and the job opportunities are immense.
Western Sydney University prepares its students on how to handle future challenges.
The course is very affordable and the tutors are excellent.
The teaching labs are very advanced so one can practice real life scenarios.
Hawkesbury campus provides a suitable learning environment for students. The campus is peaceful and serene with many open spaces to read and relax. And the student crowd of Hawkesbury is so amicable and supportive. Equally, teaching staff, library staff and the student support service team are supportive and helpful.
I was invited to do Honours and am considering completing the Honours program and heading towards a research led career.
Nirav was a member of the 2013 Western Sydney University Health Fusion Team. The team won the Trans Tasman Health Fusion Competition.
On the topic of the competition, Nirav said "It is a great opportunity to have fun, engage in extra-curricular activities, network and it opens the gates to different avenues...One thing I'll take away from the experience is how to work under pressure."
The team were also 'Highly Commended' at the Vice Chancellor's Excellence Award for Excellence in Community Engagement.
