Former student Alede Takpiny named finalist in NSW Health Excellence in Nursing & Midwifery Awards

Rewarded midwife thanks "great team" at Westmead Former Student Alede Takpiny

Former Western Sydney School of Nursing and Midwifery student Alede Takpiny was recently named Finalist in the NSW Health Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards.

In October, Westmead Hospital's maternity ward delivered a record number of babies: an average of 18 per day.

That's 509 newborns in one month.

Among the healthcare professionals helping to bring them into the world was Alede Takpiny.

"We make such a great team," Ms Takpiny said.

"When I saw we'd delivered 509 babies I thought 'yep, that is Westmead'. Go team."

Ms Takpiny, of Kellyville, was recently named a finalist in the NSW Health Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards, held by NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner.
