Blacktown/Mt Druitt Clinical School
The Blacktown/Mt Druitt Clinical School was the second Clinical School of Western Sydney University's School of Medicine. Located at Blacktown/Mt Druitt Hospital, the School brings together expert medical teachers and has new facilities to create outstanding opportunities for clinical education.
The purpose built Blacktown/Mt Druitt Clinical School and Research Centre was finished in April 2011.
The Clinical School and Research Centre provides facilities for teaching and research. The Research Centre will house staff working on clinical trials in its dry lab space, in addition to extensive wet laboratory facilities. The Clinical Skills Lab provides a simulated environment where students can learn in a safe learning environment before proceeding to the ward situation. Students will be taught and practice all clinical skills, including resuscitation, venepuncture and cannulation.
Simulation manikins will be used, reflecting international best practice.
The Clinical School facility houses tutorial rooms, an auditorium, office space for staff and the hospital library.
Blacktown/Mt Druitt's supportive working environment makes for high student morale and the administrative team of the School is ready to respond to inquiries, and together with the doctors and nursing staff are keen to help in any way they can.
Blacktown/Mt Druitt Hospital incorporates 2 busy Emergency Departments, and a surgical service with 8 operating rooms.
