WATCH Team Researchers at OMOZ 2016
The WATCH team was wonderfully represented at OmOz Conference in Newcastle, 13th - 15th September 2016.
This is a national biennial conference enabling sharing of new knowledge in Indigenous ear health and development of strategies to tackle the ongoing problems. This year the conference was convened by Professor Kelvin Kong, Australia's first Aboriginal ENT surgeon and a CI on WATCH.
WATCH Team OMOZ Presentations:
- Sissy Tyson and Deb Askew provided an oral presentation on behalf of the Research Officers titled 'that's why they employ us blackfellas: The importance of Indigenous research officers in clinical trials'
- Natasha Peter and Penny Abbott presented 'Tympanometry use in Aboriginal Health Services - perspectives from the WATCH trial'
- Jenny Reath presented 'Watching and Waiting: an overview of WATCH including some of the learning from our qualitative research'
Amanda Leach, Peter Morris, Hasantha Gunasekera and of course Kelvin all presented their research in Ear Health and we all enjoyed getting together in between presentations including a Team Meeting on Thursday morning but especially riding down sand dunes and digging for pippis on Worrimi country.
