Professor Michael Adams specialises in the areas of corporate law and corporate governance. He is an expert in financial services regulation (particularly securities markets, insider trading, market manipulation) and the broader area of legal education and technology. Professor Adams has been the Dean of Law since 2007. He teaches, writes and presents regularly on these topics, as well as a major media commentator, through TV, radio, newspapers and online forums. Published 12 books, 35+ chapters, 95+ articles and has presented at over 250 conferences in the last 25 years
Professor Donna Craig is a specialist in international, comparative and national environmental and planning law and policy. Donna has 40 years experience in research, legal practice, teaching an d working with communities, NGO's, indigenous peoples' organisations, governments and corporations. Her research and publications emphasize the social, cultural and human rights dimensions of legislation, programs, impact assessment and sustainable development
Professor Steven Freeland is a Professor of International Law at Western Sydney University, where he teaches both postgraduate and undergraduate students, and supervises PhD students, in the fields of international Criminal Law, Commercial Aspects of Space Law, Public International Law and Human Rights Law. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Vienna, Permanent Visiting Professor of the iCourts Centre of Excellence for International Courts, Denmark, a Member of Faculty of the London Institute of Space Policy and Law, and was a Marie Curie Fellow in 2013-2014.
Professor Razeen Sappideenjoined the university as Foundation Professor of Law in 1994, and was for some time Dean of Law. Professor Sappideen holds the LLM (Hons) Syd, LLM (Pennsylvania) in Tax Law, LLM (Columbia) in Corporations Law, and the JSD (Columbia) in the area of Acquisitions and Mergers Law. He is admitted as a Solicitor and has been a Consultant to several leading Law and Accounting firms. He was a Visiting Fellow of Wolfson College and the Faculty of Laws Cambridge University in 2009/2010, Oxford University 2010-2011, and was the Tun Ismail Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Malaya for 2011-13, and a Visiting Fellow at The University of Hamburg Law and Economics Institute and The Max Planck Institute Hamburg in 2014. Professor Sappideen is also Chair of the International Governance Cluster of the Law School.
Associate Professor Daud Hassan joined the University of Western Sydney in 2009 with considerable teaching, research and community service experience. Daud taught at five different universities in Australia and Overseas, including University of New England, University of Technology Sydney and Victoria University. In 2003, He held a visiting position at the Graduate School of Law, Kobe University, Japan. He is the recipient of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship 2003. In 2006 he was invited as a Keynote speaker for International Conference on Marine Waste Water Discharges and Coastal Environment held in Antalya, Turkey.
Associate Professor Alpana Roy researches and teaches in intellectual property law, with a particular interest in trademarks, copyright, international intellectual property law, and cultural aspects of intellectual property (including traditional and indigenous knowledge). Alpana has several years of experience in academia, where she has lectured in a wide range of postgraduate and undergraduate intellectual property and commercial law subjects. She has lectured at various universities, including the University of Queensland, the University of Sydney, and the University of Technology, Sydney. Alpana is widely published in intellectual property law, and is a commissioned author for several major legal publishers, including Thomson Reuters, Federation Press, LexisNexis, Oxford University Press, and CCH.
