Sport and Exercise Science Facilities

Three General Teaching laboratories

Contains the following equipment:

• Treadmills,
• Monark cycle ergometers,
• Velotron electromagnetically braked ergometer
• Expired gas analysis metabolic measurement systems,
• 12-lead electrocardiograms
• Thermoregulation testing equipment
• Mobile force platform with 5 metre walkway (analyses forces associated with gait, jumping and landing)
• A strength and conditioning weight training gym.
• Access to an outdoor oval

Two Research Laboratories

Contains the following equipment:

• Wireless EMG System,
• KinCom (computerised isokinetic muscle function testing system)
• PowerLab advanced teaching system
• Ultrasound (for both muscle and vascular measurements)
• Vascular analysis and testing systems and state-of-the-art motion capture and movement analysis systems

Biochemistry laboratory

Biochemistry Laboratory used for teaching and research for analysis of blood gas and pH systems.

Weight training gym

Includes equipment such as treadmills, cycle ergometers, rowers, power cage and numerous free weights and machines.

New Equipment

New equipment has recently been purchased for both teaching and research and includes:

• Team Polar heart rate monitoring system – caters up to 20 athletes
• GPS sporting system – caters up to 25 athletes
• Wireless electronic timing gate systems

The Human Sciences Technical Team provides support for teaching and research needs within the facility, and for community engagement activities within the School.
