About

Religion Research brings together scholars in the School of Arts at Western Sydney University whose work engages the academic study of religion from historical, philosophical, and interdisciplinary perspectives. Known in the German scholarly tradition as Religionswissenschaft, the study of religion investigates religious ideas, traditions, and practices across cultures and historical periods.

The initiative advances humanities-led research on religion and seeks to strengthen the intellectual study of religion within the University while contributing to wider scholarly conversations in the field. It provides a forum for collaborative research and discussion through seminars, workshops, roundtables, and other scholarly events.

Religion Research also supports the development of Higher Degree Research students working on religion and related themes, fostering an active and collegial research culture.

The initiative was co-founded in 2022 by Associate Professor Milad Milani (Western Sydney University) and Associate Professor Diego Bubbio (University of Turin). Religion Research is directed by Associate Professor Milad Milani.
