MusicTherapy@Western Centre

Music therapy is an evidence-based allied health profession, in which music is used to support people of all ages and life stages within the domain areas of cognition, communication, movement, social engagement, and emotional wellbeing.

The MusicTherapy@Western Centre is run in partnership between Western Sydney University and Resourced Music Therapy. The Centre provides individuals and groups with music therapy services to support people of all ages and life stages according to the needs and goals of the client.

Music therapy services within the MusicTherapy@Western Centre are be provided by fully qualified and highly experienced Registered Music Therapists from Resourced Music Therapy with support from Master of Creative Music Therapy postgraduate students. Students undertaking placement within the Centre receive additional support from WSU music therapy academic staff with substantial teaching, supervision and applied research experience.

Music Therapy postgraduate Students are not only skilled musicians, but they are also developing skills in understanding the effects of music experiences, and how music can affect behaviours, feelings, thoughts, and actions.

We are committed to providing best-practice music therapy services to the people of Western Sydney.

Who can refer?
We accept referrals from medical, allied-health and educational professionals. We also accept self-referrals, parent/carer-referrals and clients with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS plans.
