WIL FAQ

Do I have to do this course?

There are two answers.

Are there exemptions available?

Yes, as described with the text of this document, students who have completed similar modules elsewhere and have this evidence, will be offered advanced standing. Students who already are employed as either apprentices, cadets or are self - employed should speak with the WIL coordinator for assessment.

What will be my Learning Outcomes?

Students who complete the structured course will have experienced, first - hand, the practical application of their theoretical learning within a workplace environment. Each student will possess the requirements for site access and will be familiar with the culture and practices currently in place in many work sites and office environments. Students will be able adjust quickly within the built environment having undertaken the Work Integrated Learning module/component/program.

Do I need to find a host employer?

Yes, it is the student’s responsibility to find employers who are willing to provide work experience. In exceptional circumstances (i.e. international students) the school will endeavour to seek host employers. Opportunities will be advertised as they become available.

Is there a set format for this course?

Within the three knowledge areas comprising Transferrable Skills, Discipline Skills and Professional Skills, students will be able to design their own industry engagement portfolio that can later be used for their Curriculum Vitae (CV). Students are encouraged to seek guidance from their supervisor or mentor whilst doing this course.
