What is Optimise?

Optimise is the School of Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences' annual showcase of emerging talent and ideas. It creates a shared space for eligible students to present projects and research, explain the thinking behind their work and connect with peers, academics, the wider University community and industry guests.

From an early concept to a finished project, every piece of work has a story. Optimise brings that story forward: the question or problem, the choices made, the challenges encountered, the lessons learned and the possibilities ahead.

Why it matters
Good ideas become more powerful when they can be clearly shared. Optimise gives students a reason to step back from the technical detail, communicate the value of their work and respond to new perspectives. For visitors, it is an opportunity to see the depth and variety of student thinking across technology, data and mathematics.
