The School of Business is currently working towards The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation, an international business school accreditation. To address the AACSB standards the School of Business has implemented the learning and teaching processes to each course with appropriate course learning goals. The curricula will maximise the potential for students to achieve course learning outcomes.
What is Assurance of Learning (AoL)?
AoL is a continuous improvement process aimed at aligning institutional and program learning goals to student outcomes. In essence, AoL ensures that students achieve course learning goals through improved student learning experiences. Assurance of Learning forms part of the accreditation standards for AACSB.
The School of Business has a comprehensive AoL system in place. The School uses well documented, systematic processes for determining and revising course learning goals; designing, delivering and improving curriculum to achieve course learning outcomes; and demonstrating the course learning goals have been met. The School’s AoL system is based upon the scaffolding of Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) in units across courses. Learning and teaching methods support the development of learning outcomes and measurement occurs at the assure level (normally year 3 at Bachelors level) and in the final quarter of the Master’s programs.
