Selecting suitable building designs for efficient energy management and reducing GHG emissions associated with a building’s life-cycle are typically challenging to designers in the battle to tackle global climate change. Researchers around the world are striving to develop building optimization models. Those strategies can be devised to reduce simultaneously buildings’ energy consumption and GHG emissions. In the meantime, other project’s parties have limited opportunities as well as experience or knowledge about utilising sustainable tool.

Green Star Environmental Rating System is one of many green building rating systems, which have been using to evaluate the sustainability of projects from cradle to grave of the buildings. In addition to achieving Green Star – Design & As Built certification by complying its pathway’s requirements for construction projects, the perception in reducing GHG emissions when utilising these pathways is necessary to involve not merely achieving credit points but also contribute to environment improvement. Building material manufacture and operation phases seem to be substantial in all environmental impact categories. The major purpose of this research is to develop a model that not merely helping engineers and designers to have simpler environmental tools to achieve as much sustainable credit points in Green Star system as possible but also estimating life cycle GHG emissions for each credit points options. The research will develop a model that will consider options to achieve Green Star’s credit points and produce the optimized solution in choosing the lowest life cycle GHG emissions assessment method in achieving green building rating credit points for commercial buildings.
