Associate Professor Hart Cohen and Dr Rachel Morley of the School of Humanities & Communication Arts with Dr Juan Francisco Salazar of the Institute for Culture & Society are investigating the development of the Strehlow collection as it undergoes digitisation and dissemination to its related Indigenous communities. This project is funded by the ARC through its Linkage Project grant scheme and by the Strehlow Research Centre and Northern Territory Library.

Professor Ien Ang and Dr Phillip Mar of the Institute for Culture and Society are examining the success of promoting diverse cultural expression in art works. This project is funded by the Australia Council for the Arts through its Inter-Arts Grants Initiative, in partnership with UNESCO Bangkok.

Professors Ien Ang, Donald McNeill, Kay Anderson and Dr Alexandra Wong of the Institute for Culture and Society with Mr Steven Hillier of the City of Sydney Council are examining the role of Sydney's Chinatown as a bridge in supporting economic and cultural links between Australia and Asia. This project is funded by the City of Sydney Council and the Australian Research Council through its Linkage Projects grant scheme.

Dr Paul Rymer of the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment and the School of Science and Health together with Dr Paul Gibson-Roy from Greening Australia (NSW) Ltd., has been awarded a UWS Research Partnerships grant to investigate ecological and genetic issues in producing seeds for ecological restoration.

Associate Professor Charles Morris from the School of Science and Health together with Dr Paul Gibson-Roy from Greening Australia has been awarded a UWS Research Partnerships grant to evaluate two approaches to develop a tool box of effective restoration methods at a former Cumberland Plain woodland site that can be tailored to individual sites.

Dr Ajesh George, Professor Maree Johnson and Professor Hannah Dahlen from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Professors Jennifer Reath and Andrew Korda from the School of Medicine have been awarded a UWS Research Partnerships grant to develop perinatal oral health guidelines for dentists and prenatal care providers in Australia.

Dr Joanne Curry of the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics together with Dr Kathy Tannous of the School of Business and Professor Anneke Fitzgerald of Griffith University are using innovative modelling and management techniques to improve the coordination of patient care for people with osteoarthritis in various healthcare settings, including hospitals. This research has been funded by Hunter New England Local Health Network.

Professor Stephen Tomsen of the Institute for Culture and Society and the School of Social Sciences and Psychology with Mr Jason Payne of the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) is examining the prevalence, locations and trends in homicide linked to commercial night-time leisure, problematic drinking and drug use. This research is funded through a Criminology Research Grant from the AIC.

Dr Alphia Possamai-Inesedy of the School of Social Sciences and Psychology is investigating the outcome of de-radicalisation programs in Australian communities. The research will focus on communities that have been the target of the Countering Violent Extremism – Youth Mentoring Grants program funded by the Attorney-General's Department. This research has been funded by the New South Wales Police Force.

Associate Professor Debbie Horsfall of the School of Social Sciences and Psychology will lead a team of researchers researching informal community care networks for people dying at home. This project is funded by the Australian Research Council through its Linkage Projects grant scheme.

Dr Shameran Slewa-Younan from the School of Medicine with Associate Professor Jonathan Mond from University of Canberra, Professor Anthony Jorm from University of Melbourne together with Dr Mitchell Smith and Ms Diana Milosevic from NSW Refugee Health Service have been awarded a UWS Research Partnerships grant to investigate the mental health literacy of a refugee community regarding post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Associate Professor Brajesh Singh, and Professors David Tissue and Ian Anderson of the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, together with Dr Michael Braunack and Dr Michael Bange of CSIRO Plant Industry, have received funding from the Cotton Research and Development Corporation to investigate the ability of the cotton industry to adapt under extreme weather conditions and climate change.
