Academic experiences of bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment by university students in Australia
Project summary
Numerous studies in other industries indicate that employees face discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment, but there is little information about the issue in the Australian university sector when the perpetrator is a student/s.
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate you need to be a current/former academic (postgrad, postdoc, HDR candidate, casual/sessional, part-time, full-time) who has experienced discrimination, bullying and/or sexual harassment perpetrated by a student/s at an Australian university (e.g. online, on campus, field trip).
What does participation in this research involve?
The project includes a survey and an interview (Zoom/phone), however, participants can opt into the survey only. There are 15 x $100 gift cards for participants (survey participants go into the draw to win one of five $100 gift cards and interviewees will be reimbursed with a $100 gift card for their time). Participants can choose to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym if they prefer.
The project will end by mid-November. Survey winners will be emailed within 2 weeks of the project closing and interviewees will be compensated within 2 weeks following their interview.
It's really important that we hear from academics across universities about their experiences to understand how widespread the issue is and the impact it has on academics.
