Mass Observations is an exciting new concept – an app that allows users to give their views on a range of current affairs and trending topics, compare those with others and have them combined with big data sets to create insights and understandings that were previously impossible.
Western Sydney University, in partnership with Dimension Data, is creating a data multi-verse. Technology allows us to access enormous amounts of information anytime, anywhere. The problem has been that understanding it all is complex – there is no simple way to consolidate it, nor validate the insights generated with the real-life experience it aims to represent. Mass Observations changes that. Mass Observations enables users, including students and the general public, to submit their opinions on a range of topics. Those perspectives will be connected with big data sets, and then interrogated to establish new and interesting insights into everyday life.
Through the month of September 2017, a live test of the new user app will be conducted. The experiment will give you the opportunity to share your views on the news of the day and compare those with other users in an easy, interactive way. It's free to join the experiment and participants will have the opportunity to win prizes including iPads, Apple Watches and other gadgets.
The project will be open for a month and will ask you to respond to a range of current issues and trending topics. All you need to do is download the free app from the Apple App Store or Android Play and you'll be ready to get involved.
The app will become available over the next few weeks. If you would like further information, or want to register your interest, just email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will update you once the app becomes available.
