Description

What are we learning from children and young people about gender, gender diversity and sexuality in the early 21st Century; how is this knowledge received by families, educators, politicians and the broader community; and what are the implications for feminist thinking, theory and practice? These questions are integral to this presentation. The discussion is based on my research with children, young people, parents/carers and educators over the past decade. Drawing on feminist, trans and queer theories, I explore children's and young people's gendered and sexual subjectivities, and agency, based on the narratives of cisgender, gender diverse and transgender children and young people.
