Description

Welcome to Part 2 of a two-part series on systematic review training. This session covers the practical components of structured searching.  If you are not sure where to start or want to avoid 'hit and miss' searching, this session will be good for you.

What's covered:

  • use a framework to deconstruct your research question into searchable concepts OR show you how to use a framework to develop your research (clinical) question
  • apply Boolean operators, searching tips such as truncation, proximity searching, phrase searching to a search string
  • use a thesaurus to generate a subject search (coupled with a keyword search across Title & Abstract) in a subject-specific database
  • Sharing of resources to help in documenting your search strategy & translating searches across multiple platform
