This is my Backyard - Rain, Rain Down the Stormwater Drain

Bankstown Youth Development Centre (BYDS) and Bankstown Arts Centre Community

Rain, rain down the stormwater drain. Don't take my litter. Into the river.

Rain, rain down the stormwater drain. I'll keep you clean for me. And for fish in the sea.

Rain, rain that flows down the drain. No waste far or near. I will keep it all clear for the rain.

"We know what a big impact litter has now, but seeing the rubbish physically in the storm water drain and in the community was a bit shocking, we realized it was a bigger problem than we imagined. So walking through the community was helpful and so was surveying people. This is because we could understand how many people aren't aware of the issue and having us asking them and informing them about those little things, they can share that with their families also." - Year 6 student, Bankstown Public School.

"With those containers we used to make music. We can reuse them over and over again. Now that we have done that, the kids have seen what happened, then when I go home, I'm going to be very firm on recycling and preserving things so we don't waste things, and that we don't throw things when they are still needed." - Parent, Percussion Workshop with Nigerian Igbo Community Workshop.'
