Muslims for Environment
Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia
"Islam gives immense worth to the environment and places special emphasis on environmental ethics and has provided numerous ecological guidelines 1400 years ago. The Holy Quran contains hundreds of references to ecology and there is an abundance of Hadith (Sayings of the Holy Prophet) concerning plants, trees, land cultivation, irrigation, water conservation, and treatment of animals."
The Holy Quran says;
"Seest though not that to Allah bow down in worship all things that are in heavens and on earth, the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a number among mankind?" (Quran 22:18)
The Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) said;
"The earth is green and beautiful, and Allah has appointed you his stewards over it. The whole earth has been created a place of worship, pure and clean. Whoever plants a tree and diligently looks after it until it matures and bears fruit is rewarded. If a Muslim plants a tree or sows a field and humans and beasts and birds eat from it, all of it is charity on his part."
In light of these Islamic guidelines, Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia regularly takes part in numerous environmental initiatives such as 'National Tree Day', 'Clean up Australia Day' and donates to charities.
