Building Local Resilience and Awareness

Transition Parramatta

Transition Parramatta is a way to help us express our respect to people and the environment on which we depend. The group has created a space and place to develop, achieve and realise the vision through Sorrell Lane Community Garden in urbanised Parramatta. Here we have held eco-therapy, meat-free cooking classes, garden working bees, bee hotel workshops and organic vegetable growing workshops.

As part of the first national Pollinator Week, Transition Parramatta held a hands on bee hotel building workshop to promote awareness of native pollinators, their work in helping produce food, and the importance of protecting our biodiversity.

"I am glad this is happening as it is so relaxing and we get to learn how to make a bee hotel and better still… get to take one home!"

"I loved the food as well as the wood work... keep them coming!"

"This is just fantastic, I want to help with something next time when you are running something like this."

Into the future Transition Parramatta hope to expand participation in sustainability initiatives to a wider community.
