Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development
Hosted by Western Sydney University, RCE Greater Western Sydney (RCE-GWS) has a focus on Education for Sustainable Development for over a decade. Our network of regional partners, who include educational institutions, school networks, non-profits, community groups, government agencies and local government, work together to tackling our region's major sustainability challenges. We are 1 of over 190 acknowledged RCEs globally and have strong links with the Asia-Pacific region.
Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) are acknowledged by the United Nations University (UNU) in response to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD 2005-2014). Upon the completion of the DESD, RCEs are committed to further generating, accelerating and mainstreaming ESD by implementing the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD (opens in new window)
