Parramatta South campus Provost
A message from Professor John Juriansz, Provost, Parramatta South Campus
Parramatta is rapidly becoming the heart of Sydney’s business, creative and cultural landscape. Western’s Parramatta South campus offers cutting-edge facilities and technology, gives you access to world-class academics, and connects you to the epicentre of a future yet to be imagined. The campus is situated on the traditional lands of the Burramattagal People of the Darug Nation.
The Parramatta South campus serves the local communities of the third-largest growing economy in Australia, and draws a diverse student and staff population. We welcome a large number of international students each year who are attracted to the centric location of the campus to popular tourist’s attractions, enabling them to experience Greater Sydney and its rich culture.
Parramatta South is home to many academic disciplines and key facilities including the MakerSpace 3D Printing Hub and Fabrication Lab, Chemical Science Lab, Moot Court, Digital Media Studios, Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Practice Units and the Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education to name a few. The Parramatta South Campus will soon host the new Indigenous Centre of Excellence – a dynamic space where culture, knowledge, and community will intersect. It will serve as a hub for celebrating Indigenous heritage, fostering understanding, and promoting resilience.
The campus also has a unique history and is home to the Female Orphan School, one of the very few surviving public buildings of its size dating from the early colonial period. Resident within the Female Orphan School is the Whitlam Institute - a research and public policy institute that commemorates, and is inspired by, the life and work of the Hon Gough Whitlam AC QC.
Our campus is open to all in the community and is safe place to connect, learn and reflect. I invite you to take the heritage walk and learn more about the unique landscape and discover the stories located at each place of interest.
I am proud to be the Provost of Parramatta South Campus and represent the University’s commitment to the region. In my Provost role I am supported by the Parramatta South Provost Committee which brings together student and staff representatives who volunteer their time to consider initiatives and promote opportunities to benefit the campus experience.
