Enterprise Bargaining

This website will keep you informed on Western's progress in developing our new enterprise agreements. The Western Sydney University Academic and Professional Staff Agreements 2014-2017 reached their notional expiry date on 31 January 2017, however, they will remain current until their replacement.

Staff Agreements

The University, the CPSU and the NTEU have finalised negotiations and endorsed the 2017 Staff Agreements.

Eligible academic and professional staff will be given the opportunity to vote on the relevant Agreement. Online ballots will commence at 9.00am on Wednesday 13 December and close at 4.00pm on Thursday 14 December.

The ballots will be confidential and conducted independently by Elections Australia. After the ballot closes, Elections Australia will notify the University of the results and staff will be informed soon after via email.

Staff Agreements 2017

Commencing Wednesday 6 December, there is an access period during which staff are encouraged to review their relevant new Agreement before the ballot opens. The Staff Agreements can be found below.

Summary of each Agreement

A summary of each of the proposed agreements can be found below, including the main changes between the current and proposed Agreements.

How to vote

All staff who are eligible to vote will receive an email with a link to the voting site and details about how to vote when the ballot opens on Wednesday 13 December. If you have any questions about the ballot process or need any assistance please contact your Senior HR Partner.

What happens after the vote?

If both Agreements are endorsed by the majority of the staff eligible to vote, then the University will lodge the Agreements with the Fair Work Commission for approval. If the Fair Work Commission approves the new Agreements, they will begin to operate seven days after the date on which they are approved. The University will notify staff when the Agreements have been lodged for approval, and also when they have been approved.

If one or more of the Agreements are not endorsed by the majority of staff eligible to vote, the University will consult with staff and continue enterprise bargaining with the relevant Union(s) in relation to the Agreement(s).
