This toolkit is for people who work in the community and government sectors in a range of capacities with young people. It has been designed with three main audiences in mind:

  • People responsible for, or with an interest in, planning and developing case management models (Part A of the toolkit may be of most interest to this audience);
  • People involved in case management or case-work, and/or those who are involved in delivering services to young people with multiple and complex needs (Part B of the toolkit will be of interest to this audience);
  • People who work with Pacific communities, and in particular young Pacific people (the toolkit in its entirety will be of value to this audience, with Part C being of particular interest)

This report provides an overview of the progressive approach taken by the National Rugby League in developing inclusive approaches to cultural competency across the game. One particular strategy on creating such capacity was the Pacific Cultural Awareness workshops, implemented across NRL clubs to players, coaching and professional staff.

Youth homelessness is marred by problems around family breakdowns, mental health concerns, substance use and abuse, and the lack of stable accommodation (Homelessness Taskforce 2008). With noted decreases over the last decade, youth homelessness still remains a contested policy topic, with need to develop a streamlined approach in understanding solutions. This report reviews a particular service model developed to provide a holistic approach to youth homelessness in South West Sydney; especially with view to assist youth from diverse backgrounds.
