Compliance Management Program

Western Sydney University has an overarching Enterprise Compliance Management Program (“Program”) which is a set of interrelated or interacting processes and activities at the University to enable and assure of regulatory operational compliance.

It is based on the continual improvement principle of "Develop, Implement, Evaluate, Maintain", and is anchored by the Compliance Policy (opens in a new window), which is endorsed by the University's Audit and Risk Committee.

Compliance Directory

The centralised listing identifying the current NSW and Commonwealth laws that govern the University’s operations and activities and must be complied with within the University.

Continuous review

Accountable portfolios with subject matter expertise for the operational compliance of applicable legislation record and assess specific obligations, the key controls mitigating non-compliance risk, and the residual risk of non-compliance, which is overseen by the Compliance Program Unit.

Accountable portfolios are set up with legislative alerts to which it must monitor for amendments to update key documents such as policies, procedures, and training.

Non-compliance Incident Reporting

The reporting, management, and prevention recurrence of control breakdowns that inhibit operational compliance with legislative obligations, overseen by the Compliance Program Unit.

Western Sydney University staff and its community (i.e. students and members of the public) should promptly report all incidences of regulatory non-compliance on its central reporting Register (opens in a new window).

Annual attestation

Accountable operational units assess and assure of the compliance status of legislative obligations by calendar year, and certify there is no material legislative compliance risk above the University’s risk appetite.
