At Western Sydney University, the welfare of our students is our number one priority. That’s why we happily provide multiple support services to ensure your transition to university goes smoothly.


Western Sydney University is committed to providing a range of support services and education pathways for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education provides programs, services and facilities to encourage and support the involvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in all aspects of tertiary education. College students studying at Nirimba campus have access to the Ngaramada Centre for Indigenous Education.


Our Careers Team can help students plan their career, provide feedback on resumes, help with job hunting and prepare for interviews.

Current students and graduates have access to careers workshops, employability programs, career/employer events and activities, and an extensive array of online resources.

The Counselling Service offers free and confidential phone and online counselling appointments. We work with diverse student populations on any issues of concern. Counsellors also advocate for students’ psychological wellbeing and promote adjustment to University life.

The Student Welfare Service offers support and advocacy by helping students to navigate University systems and processes and by providing support for academic or personal difficulties. The service provide advice and support in relation to accommodation matters as well as a range of financial assistance to support you with education-related costs and basic living expenses, including grants, textbook support and emergency food assistance. Eligible students can access a Carers Verification Statement which assists carers in managing caring responsibilities alongside study. International Students can access advice and support in relation to study load matters and student visa related concerns.  


The Disability Service is a team of professional Disability Advisors and trained educational support staff. We can support and assist future and current students with disabilities and chronic health conditions to reach their full academic potential. Students with a temporary injury such as a broken limb may also be eligible for assistance.


MyIT is your gateway to IT services available at Western Sydney University. MyIt is available all day, every day, even when the University is closed. Access IT knowledge articles and fact sheets, IT forms, password management, assistive technology and more. You can also speak with one of our friendly IT Service Desk staff. 


The Library is your central point of reference for learning success. Get an edge by accessing high quality scholarly resources in the Library collection. Visit Library Study Smart for expert assignment writing advice, feedback, searching and referencing tips. Choose from a variety of study spaces adapted to meet physical distancing requirements. Individual quiet and silent study spaces are also available. Access multiple Library locations with your student ID card. Online Librarian is available extended hours to answer your queries via phone, email and chat or ask our friendly staff on campus for help at the Digital Service Desk.

If you're a student enrolled in a degree where you’ll have to go to a NSW Health facility, we will inform you about what you need to do to prepare for this placement or work-integrated learning (WIL) component of your program. Follow the advice of the Student Compliance Team to become compliant.
