Bankstown Sports Club

Bankstown Sports Club is a sport and community focused not-for-profit organisation, based in the heart of Sydney’s southwest. From humble beginnings in a small church hall in 1958, our club was created by the local community, for the local community. Our mission is to ‘Make A Difference’ and our purpose is to support and encourage the community to be the best it can be.

At Bankstown Sports Club, we understand the power and value of education. We know that educational attainment is associated with better health throughout life. Education equips people to achieve stable employment, have a secure income, live in adequate housing, provide for families and cope with ill health by assisting them to make informed health care choices. An individual’s education level affects not only their own health, but that of their family and even their community.

The Bankstown Sports Club Scholarship in Social Work provides recipients with the opportunity to advance their own education in the field of social work, easing the financial barriers that may impact on their access to tertiary education, whilst providing the individual with an opportunity to give back to their community by using their knowledge and skills gained from their degree.
