Roy's efforts were recognised in 1999, with a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community through fundraising and a Companion of the Order of Liverpool (CLO) in 1997, Liverpool's highest award for community service. In 2003 Roy was awarded the Centenary of Federation Medal for his services to the Liverpool Community. Roy is also a long serving member of the University's Foundation Board.

Roy has a particular interest in health and medical research, and as a member of a number of boards and foundations in this area has raised many millions of dollars for specific research causes. He was also involved in the creation of the Ingham Medical Research Institute for South Western Sydney and is pleased to support this scholarship to encourage the next generation of medical researchers.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
