EA Southee Undergraduate Research Scholarship


Continuing students


Bachelor of Natural Science (Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security) or Bachelor of Natural Science (Animal Science) on the Hawkesbury Campus


$2,000 per year for one year


Applicants must:

  • be Australian citizens or permanent residents
  • be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Natural Science (Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security) or Bachelor of Natural Science (Animal Science) degree on the Hawkesbury Campus
  • be enrolled in their final year of the degree and completing either Field Project 1 or Field Project 2 units of study

Applicants must submit a letter of support outlining how the scholarship will enhance the applicant's professional development associated with their studies and research excellence in Agriculture and / or Natural Science.

Applicants must submit a short, 2-page CV, to include: refereed publications, popular articles, conferences presentation(s) and prizes.

E.A. Southee Memorial Trust

This scholarship is awarded in recognition of the significant contribution of EA Southee, who for 33 years (1921–1954) was Principal of Hawkesbury Agricultural College, now the Hawkesbury Campus of Western Sydney University. The scholarship’s objective is to promote academic excellence and opportunity in agriculture or related environmental sciences through scholarships that support research and/or professional development by an undergraduate or postgraduate student at Western Sydney University Hawkesbury campus, or by an alumnus of the Hawkesbury campus.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
