Chancellor's Scholarship

Professor Peter Shergold AC joined Western Sydney University in 2011 as Chancellor, after a distinguished academic and public service career. Professor Shergold was the secretary for the Department of Education and chair of the National Centre for Vocational Education Research. He is passionate about widening access to quality tertiary education and believes Western Sydney University is realising this mission.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship has been established to provide opportunity and encouragement to students who might not otherwise have the chance to study at university because of financial hardship or other circumstances.

Applications and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
