Western Sydney University Excellence Scholarships aim to recognise and reward academically gifted students who have achieved outstanding results in their Higher School Certificate (HSC), or equivalent.

Value

  • $7,500 per year for up to three years*
    * full-time, or part-time equivalent

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Enrolment:

  • current high school leaver

Program/s:

  • any undergraduate degree

Additional:

  • Minimum ATAR 80* or equivalent+ 80% in Indigenous Entry Program assessments*
  • Minimum of four year 11 subjects graded A
  • demonstrate a high level of academic achievement through a minimum ATAR 90** or equivalent.
  • Study offer or application at Western (direct or via UAC) by deadline
  • Leadership and community involvement
  • Reside in Greater Western Sydney or completed the Higher School Certificate in Greater Western Sydney

** Due to the competitive nature of scholarships, any Regional Bonus, Subject Bonus and other bonus points are not taken into consideration for this scholarship.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement supporting their application indicating how they believe receiving the scholarship will assist them with their studies and future careers. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant’s background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, ability to meet the criteria, and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
