| Period - The number of days between your periods can be different each month but should be between 21 and 35 days.
- Your period should last between 2-7 days.
Flow - Blood at the start or the end of your period can look brown or rusty coloured or to have spotting – few small drops of blood.
- The average amount of menstrual blood is less than three tablespoons per period.
- Heavy bleeding is more common in the first couple of years after you get your period.
Period pain - It is normal to experience some mild discomfort below your belly button during the first two days of your period.
- As you get older period pain will most likely become milder or may even disappear.
PMS - Symptoms that occur in the two weeks (or 3-7 days) before the period are often called premenstrual symptoms or more often PMS.
Symptom/s of PMS includes breast tenderness/soreness, bloating, headaches, food cravings, sudden mood changes that disappear within 24-48 hours of getting period.
