NICM Health Research Institute has been identified as Australia’s top research institution in the field of Alternative and Traditional Medicine in The Australian’s Annual Research Special Report.

In addition, Western Sydney University has also led in the disciplines of Forests and Forestry, and Pregnancy and Childbirth. Professor Belinda Medlyn from the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, was also named as Field Leader for the discipline of Botany, and Dr Felix Ogbo from the Translational Health Research Institute as Rising Star (top 40 worldwide) in Public Health and Medicine.

These accolades are the result of analysis conducted for The Australian using data from Google Scholar partnered with research analytics firm League of Scholars to identify Australia’s leaders. The methodology for the Field Leader considered all papers in the top 20 refereed journals, by field, of researchers in Australian institutions over the past five years and the number of citations for each paper to ascertain the top researcher in each field.

These citations reflect NICM Health Research Institute and Western Sydney University’s commitment to targeted investment in excellence over the long-term, increasing the reputation and impact of Western as a vibrant research-led University, with regional, national, and global impact.
