Qi-Huang prize awarded to Professor Bensoussan

Western Sydney University’s NICM Health Research Institute Director, Professor Alan Bensoussan has been awarded the 2019 Qi-Huang International Award from the China Association of Chinese Medicine (CACM). The award, given to only three international experts in the field of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) each year, recognises Professor Bensoussan’s outstanding research achievements and contributions in the areas of TCM basic and clinical research and application of advanced scientific achievements in the field. This year only two international awards were issued, one to Professor Bensoussan, and the other to Professor Fan Taiping at Cambridge University.

"I am incredibly honoured and humbled by this award, which reflects the extraordinary achievements of our whole research team at NICM Health Research Institute over many years," said Professor Bensoussan.

The award ceremony was held in Beijing yesterday at the Annual Council Meeting of CACM.

Founded in May 1979, CACM is the earliest and largest Chinese medicine academic group in China with 50,000 members across the globe, and is an affiliated institution of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It comprises 11 specialised associations in the areas such as internal medicine, paediatrics, and surgery. The Association publishes China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy, and World Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine.
