NICM HRI 2020 PhD graduates

15 June 2020

We are delighted to congratulate two of NICM Health Research Institute’s PhD candidates,  Emily (Guoyan) Yang and Jessie (Jie) Hao on their recent thesis submission and official notification of graduation.

  • Emily’s thesis investigated the effects of tai chi on stress and cardiovascular function in patients with coronary heart disease and/or hypertension. Her research hypothesised that a specially designed tai chi program, with multiple mind-body components, could help people with stress and other cardiovascular risk factors.
  • Jessie’s thesis examined the effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine for peripheral neuropathy after chemotherapy. She has worked closely with colleagues in three Australian oncology facilities to evaluate the potential benefit of Chinese herbal medicine in addressing this major side effect of chemotherapy treatment.

An outstanding achievement by Emily and Jessie.
