New Grant for Chinese Medicine Education Programme

3 August 2015

The Australia-China Council (ACC) awarded funding to 30 projects in the strategic priority areas of Arts and Culture, Education and Economic Diplomacy and Australian Studies in China.

The ACC Chair, the Hon Warwick Smith AM, said: "The Board agonised over selecting only 30 projects from 219 outstanding expressions of interest with the total requested funding of over $7 million."

NICM and Western Sydney University were delighted to be one of four recipients (opens in a new window) announced to receive the largest grant of $40,000.  The grant was awarded for Australia-China Chinese Medicine Education Programme, which will offer innovative training opportunities for Australian medical and allied health practitioners and community education seminars in 2016.

The training will focus on Chinese medicine practice and philosophy, traditional and scientific evidence, drug interactions, and Australia's regulatory framework.  The wider education community seminars will provide general knowledge and understanding of Chinese medicine and culture.
