Celebrating 10 years of collaboration with China

NICM’s partnership with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine has been pursued with full vigour over the last six months, and other partnerships with long term collaborators in China have been celebrated and progressed. The unveiling of a commemorative plaque for the Australia – China Centre for Chinese Medicine Research and Development is one such initiative.

Taking place on 30 November, this event celebrated 10 years of collaborative research between NICM, the Xiyuan Hospital, and the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and was attended by senior members of the Academy and the Hospital.

The ceremony was officiated by Professor John Funder, Chair of the NICM Advisory Board.  Professor Funder and Professor Barney Glover, Vice-Chancellor and President, Western Sydney University welcomed the NSW Parliamentary Secretary, the Hon. Jonathan O’Dea, representing the Minister for Trade, the Hon. Stuart Ayres, MP. Additional VIP delegates included Professor Wang Xiaopin, International Director, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Consul General Li Huaxin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney to Australia; Professor Wu Dong, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences; Professor Fang Shu Ting, President of the Chinese Association of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology; and Mr Li Zhengjiang, Chairman of the Shineway Pharmaceutical Group.
