Cyber security update

Recently Western Sydney University detected unusual activity on our Student Management System. The University immediately took precautions, responding swiftly by taking the system offline to investigate.
I reassure our students, staff and the broader community that there is no evidence of any Western Sydney University information, including personal information, being accessed or compromised in any way. Whilst we appreciate this investigation interrupted business operations, taking our Student Management System offline for a brief period has been an important, preventative measure.
Western Sydney University takes our digital security and the protection of our student and staff data incredibly seriously. Our success in taking preventative measures is testament to the University’s advancing cyber security detection and response capacity.
This event is a timely reminder of how important it is to remain constantly alert and vigilant to cyber security threats.
We continue to work closely with our student and staff community as well as industry and government partners to protect our systems and data, and to maintain continuity of business operations.
