Western Sydney University Professor leading review into NSW government complaints process
Western Sydney University’s Professor of Social Interventions and Policy Pru Goward is leading the Premier’s review into the NSW Government’s complaints processes.
The former NSW Minister for Family and Community Services and Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner will formally review processes in place for receiving and handling reports of bullying, harassment or sexual assault by ministerial staff.
The review comes at the request of NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian with findings and recommendations due next month.
At Western Sydney University, Professor Goward provides regional, national and international leadership in research on social policy and evaluation. Professor Goward is also leading the development of an Evidence Bank with leading WSU academics. The Bank will provide ground breaking and reliable advice on the effectiveness of programs designed for the early intervention and prevention of complex social problems in Australia.
As a NSW Government minister for almost eight years, Professor Goward’s public service tenure centred upon complex social issues and families. She held several portfolios, including family and community services, social housing and mental health. Professor Goward was also the first NSW minister for the prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault. She was appointed to the position of Professor at Western Sydney University in 2019.
